Plage du Grand-Travers - La Grande-Motte
© Jean-Paul Hugo Between Carnon and the Grande-Motte, the beach of Grand Travers is one of the most popular beaches in the department. The beach is actually a long, narrow strip of sand with a length of 3km, which houses both a beach and backshore dunes composed of a scarce natural resource. The beach, meanwhile, is one of the few beaches that are not concrete in our region. It is ideal to discover the fauna and flora of the seashore, and a swimming and walking privileged. The beach is unfortunately a victim of its success. Access and parking is very difficult in summer. In addition, the dunes are endangered, in part because of the traffic is too high. An action plan launched by the Conservatoire du Littoral in the coming years should deeply modify the organization of the beach (parking fee at the entrance to the beach, road closed beaches, bike paths, ...). Free access, beach unsupervised.
